| 1 i j t ! i THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM April 8, 1976, REPORT TO: MAYOR AND COUNCIL ) N C A FROM: LEISURE ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE ITEM I: RENTAL POLICY - see attached The policy on rental of rooms was returned to Committee for reconside~ ration with regard to the category "Charges Waived". Presently this category is used for associations who hook either the Young Room or the meeting rooms at Hyde Creek for monthly meetings. Examples of groups who presently use the meeting reoms are: | 1. Port Coquitlam Amateur Athletic Association board meetings 2. Minor sport organization executive meetings 3. Ratepayers associations. Other groups which are given exemption to charges are the: 1. Sea and Army Cadet Annual Review - Arena 2. Girl Guide Gold Cord Ceremonies = Mabbett Room , 3. Annual P.C.A.A.A. and Minor Hockey meetings ~- Mabbett Room. The Committee feels very strongly that if we start charging rental for these groups to hold their meetiugs, that we will greatly hamper the effective- ness of the groups. Further, the charge for processing a rental charge for these meetings ( say $5.00 )} would increase our bookeeping costs and, in essence, would not be worth while. The Leisure Activities Committee strongly recommands that the rental policy be adopted as presented. ITEM II: P.C.A.A.A. STORAGE The Port Coquitlam Amateur Athletic Association and its member sports have, during the past two years, experienced many problems with storage of ecuipment. Unfortunately, there is no more Storage space for team equipment at the Port Recreation Centre or Hyde Creek Centre. The P.C.A.A.A. has appealed to the Leisure Activities Committee for assistance in storage for some of its equipment. Therefore, the Committee recommends for Council's consider- ation that the garage at PoCo House be made available to P.C.A.A.A. for storage of their equipment.
