From the City Engineer, May 30th, 1975, referring to Council's direction that speed control bumps be installed in the lane West of Shaughnessy Street from Whyte Avenue to Elgin Avenue, stating that the City Solicitor has advised of requirements that should be fulfilled so that the City will not attract any liability as a result of the installation thereof, and recommending that the speed limit in the lane in question be established at 5 miles per hour. The City Clerk advised that in accordance with the memorandum from the City Engineer set forth above, he had prepared an amendment to the Traffic Regulation By-law and that the same was available for initial consideration. Alderman Traboulay introduced a By~law to amend the "Traffic Regulation By-law, 1971, No. 1217". Traffic Reg. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Amend. B/law #1378 Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: (defeated at first reading) That By-law No. 1378 be read a first time. Defeated. Aldermen Keryluk, Mabbett and Traboulay voted in favour of the resolution. Acting-Mayor Alderman Thompson, and Aldermen Ranger and Laking voted against the resolution. Prior to defeat of the foregoing proposed resolution, Acting-Mayor Alderman Thompson pointed out that speed bumps would not be required if the speed limit in the lane is established at 5 miles per hour. Ald. Traboulay- From the City Clerk, April 30th, 1975, advising that at the April Amend. Subdiv.B/law re burning & 28th, 1975 Council meeting Alderman Traboulay gave notice of a motion land clearing that he wished to present at this time with reference to the amendment of the "City of Port Coquitlam Subdivision of Land By-law, 1970, No. 992" insofar as land clearing and burning operations are concerned. The City Clerk advised that a petition dated April 30th, 1975, containing the signatures of approximately 166 persons from the area concerned
