Ranger Alderman Ranger stated the Greater Vancouver Regional District had re Transit System. declined to take over the Transit System. Alderman Ranger further stated it would have been very costly to the taxpayer as there would have been a great deal of updating to do on the system. Ald. Ranger re Alderman Ranger stated a letter under date of February 16th, 1979 Court House, had been received from the British Columbia Building Corporation advising that the new court house would be built in Coquitlam. Alderman Ranger stated at the U.B.C.M. Premier Bennett had advised the government had a new policy of helping older town centres with revitalization programs and therefore a letter should be written to the Premier asking for clarification of this decision. Alderman Mabbett stated in his opinion the judges were putting the pressure on the Attorney-General to build the new court house in a new area and asked that the Mayor speak to the Honourable Alex Fraser on this subject. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That a letter be written to Premier W.R. Bennett with a copy to the Honourable A. Fraser asking for clarification on the decision to build the new ccurt house in Coquitlam. Carried. Ald. The City Ave. Engineer advised the cost was up approximately $5,500.00 from the original estimate as it now included $1,000.00 for paving and approximately $3,000.00 for water, plus the increased costs for construction.
