; BIG DAY AT LAKELSE

AA number of the loch] residents en-
joyed a real outing on Sunday last. to
Lakelse Lake where they indulged in
hoating and fishing. Some tried a
dip in the blue, but it was fairly cold
for the majorty. The day was an
ideal one, much more Ike August than
the end of September, Lakelse Lake
has been a very popular resort the lost
sunimer and now that the road is bet-
ter and with prospects for stil furth-
er improvements next season, and with
improvements at the Lake, that re-
sort will rapidly come to the fore.

LODGES AT SERVICE

The I. O. O, F. and Rebecka lodges
attended a joint service at the United
Church last Sunday evening. There
was a large turaout of members of the
two lodges and the chureh was filled
to capacity. Rev. Wm. Allen deliver-
ed u pleasing aud an appropriate ser-
mou ‘on Friendship In and out of the
Lodge room. Mrs. 8, Kirkaldy sang
ns a solo “Forget all Thy Sorrows",
nid Rev. and Mrs. Allen sang as. a
duet “One Sweetly Solemn Thought.”

A HOME COOKING SALE
-A- sale of home cooking and candy
aud afternoon ten was held in: the Un-
ited Church hall on Saturday after-
noon Jast. There was a good attend-
ance. The Guild Ladies are very well
known as good cooks and all the home
cooking and candy were quickly dis-

posed of. The proceeds from the sale

will be used in making necessary. re-
pairs to the parsonage.

Splendid Congregations at St. Matth-
ew’s Church last Sunday.

Harvest festival was honored at St.
Matthews chureh, Terrace, oh Sunday
when the vicar, Rev, A. W. Robinson,
officiated at both the morning and the
evening services, and had excellent
congregations on each occasion. A
large supply of frults, vegetables, and
grains bad been, provided by some 25
local patrons and a few willing work:

Returns on grain vary greatly.
While oats are ght in quality they
filso run as low as half a.ton to the
acre, Still there are 2 few good crops
of oats and one or two farmers have
crops that should go 2c. w. with a
yield: of 7 76 to 88 bushels per acre.
Strange as it may seem these farmers
wheat only runs 33 bushels to the acre
but it will grade up as No, 1 and No.2
