Carried. Alderman Keryluk voted against the resolution. SH (van } Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, Alderman Laking stated he felt that when Directors were municipally appointed, Councils had a better idea of what the Regional District was doing, and that re- instating this practice would provide a greater opportunity for municipal participation in the G.V.R.D.3; however, Alderman Keryluk stated he felt the situation could be improved by holding meetings in the evening so that the public could have access to them. Alderman Ranger stated he was given the impression that some Directors do not reflect the opinions of their Councils, and for this reason he favoured the representatives being appointed by Councils. Alderman Traboulay stated he would support the motion because the G.V.R.D. is, in fact, a Federation of elected officials, and Alderman Mabbett indicated he also concurred with the motion; however, he pointed out that the timing of the meetings at the present time limits the number of Council representatives that can attend.
