IWA CAMERA VISITS CANAMERA HOMES —

Thousands of Canadians unable to afford the high cost of
a conventional home are now investing in the very popular
trailer homes. The relative low cost of the trailer home —
between twenty-five and thirty thousand dollars depen-
ding on location — is an ideal solution for a family of
‘limited means.

Today’s modern trailer homes are luxurious in every
detail and are soundly constructed. One of the finest
builders of home trailers is the CanAmera Homes Ltd., of
Kelowna, B.C., whose employees are members of Local 1-
423 IWA.

This Company’s homes are of top construction and only
the best of materials are used. Every unit is rigidly in-

spected to ensure that construction meets or exceeds the
CSA building standards.

This construction includes the heavy beam chassis with
detachable hitch, 2’ x 4’’ wall studding on 16” centers, 2’
x 6” floor joists, 2 on 12 pitch roof on 16” centers, and a top
line asphalt shingle roof.

The three bedroom units contain a fiberglass shower tub
in 2nd bathroom and a master bathroom with tub. The
insulation is with the use of both rigid and flexible fibrous
glass with good vapor barrier protection.

They come equipped with a 84,000 BTU furnace, a large
duct system for heating and air conditioning, a 100 amp
electrical service, a 30 gal. glass lined water heater, two
door refrigerator and a 30” electric range oven.

At the moment, the CanAmera plant is turning out one
completed unit per day, but Company officials expect to
boost this output to five per day in the near future.
