the rank of Flight. Sergeant in
the communications branch.

Mrs. S.P. Beech celebrated
her’ 90th birthday with “open .

‘Mrs. Harry. Newman, Sharpe
Road, Thursday afternoon, June
6.

Many relations and old friends
called to offer their warm con-
gratulations to Mrs. Beech who
is active and alert at the age
‘of 90. ;

Mrs. Beech wore a corsage
of pink roses and carnations,
the gift of her three children,
Mrs Gladys Brodie, Sidney; Mrs.
Harry Newman and Mrs, Cyril
Beech, Ganges.

The room was massed with
early summer flowers for the
occasion, the tea table was
centred by the birthday cake
surmounted “oy .a vase of lily
of the: valley, and flanked by
tapers in silver candlesticks.
The. cake was made by Mrs.
- Newman and decorated by Mrs.
“J. Netterfield. ;

- Mrs... Beech. has lived on Salt.
Spring since 1911: She was
predeceased by her husband, the
tate Percy Beech in 1936.

bear. I can take racoons and
skunks with ease, it’s those
derned baboons that bother me!
I caught one with my tobaccy
tin - baccy juice dribbling down
its chin -. once ina while, well,
I don’t mind, but then it started
drinkin’ my home made wine.
1 ought to know and I’m tellin’
you - there’s nothing worse than
a drunk baboon!

Folks around here are a little
‘strange’, in fact I’m the only
one that?s sane. Seems to me
when I walk by, they got that
funny look in their eye, but I

don’t mind and make no fuss,

cause I know I’m.an intelligent
cuss!.. I made my own split-
level shack from oyster shells
I pack on my back -. ten’ feet
long and’ten feet high, and lined
with pelican fur inside. © It’s
just about. the best around cause
most of the folks live under-
