It was during the stirring days “ofthe First World War that a dedicated group of _. ladies, banded themselves together and formed the "first Women’s Institute in the area. They launched S ‘immediately on an aggressive fund raising campaign -i*= and it wasn’t particularly easy to raise money in : those. days. In an astonishingly short time they had sufficient funds in their coffers to start construc~ tion of the Brentwood. Women’s Institute Hall and it has stood ever since as a tribute to their initiative - and resource, ‘the Brentwood W.I. have worked in their hall for the -. good of the community. Moreover they made their ~ hall available for other desirable functions, Political, religious and cultural groups have met in it freely through all the years and the hall has contributed generously to the welfare of the community, -.. Now, with the old order changing, the aging hall _ will be disposed of by its owners. We hope it will continue to serve the Peninsula in some capacity for many years to come.
