Fair senior Western horse show, but one entry seemed to shine brighter than the rest. It was that of Jim Cunning- ham and his haif-Arab mare Eveda. Taffaur, which, | if. you drive the Patricia Bay Highway in the area of Sayward Road north of Elk Lake. Jim, whose family has a ser~ vice station there, used. to pas-. ture Eveda in a field-at the in- tersection until. the highway wie dening changed the lay. of the land... But you'll. still. see the pretty liver chestnut (sired, in- cidentally, by. another Saanich Peninsula’ champion, Aubrey Temblett’s. Arab, Saur Tut Ef) being schooled by Jim in that area, : The . mare’s performance showed there had been a lot of schooling too. Inaddition to being a good-looker, Eveda Taffaur is smooth in her. gaits and quick to make ‘the changes demanded in Western riding classes. The show took up most of the day Sunday, with a total of 69 entries. There were 11 events, and Cunningham jogged off with three of the feature classes += Trail horse, Western Pleasure and Western Pleasure Horse Stake, The day before his mare was named grandchampion Half-Arab in halter classes at the fair.
