Continue maintenance on this section of road but with more frequent applications of gravel,
grading, and oiling.

Long Term

A long term solution would be to pave a portion of the west shoulder in the damaged area.
This would provide a paved shoulder so that vehicles going around cars waiting to tum left
onto Birchland could do so without damaging the shoulder. The new section would be
approx. 2.5m wide and approx. 21m in length to fill in between existing driveways. (See
sketch)

NOTE: The intent in this situation is to install localized paving of the shoulder to create a
roadway for cars to travel on safely

Cost of asphalt handwork:
75rnm lift - 21 x 2.5 x .199 $200/tonne= $2,089.50
contingencise(15%) $313.00

TOTAL $2,402.93
say $2,450.00

2) A second long term solution would be to put this section of road on the list for capitol
works projects for 1993 for upgrading of the section between Coquitlam and Westminster
| and continue will regular maintenance. :
