Capital Region Hospital Com-
mittee said Monday that Health
Minister. Ralph Loffmark has
already indicated to him that he
would approve ‘the allocation of
funds to provide sketch plans for
the complete 150-bed structure.
The Minister would also ap-
prove construction of the core
service area on a scale sufficient
for the complete hospital,
providing sufficient funds are
retained within guidelines laid
‘down for completion of the 75-bed
acute care section, said Mayor
Cumming.

Referendum approval has been
given by. the ‘taxpayers for the
extended care section only, but it
has been realized that it would be
false. economy to limit such
facilities as heating, laboratory,
dietary and administrative ac-
commodation.
Architects Wade and Ham-
bleton. and* Rest Haven. Ad-
ministrator T.J. Bradley have
been concerned to. obtain
authorization to ..proceed with.
sketch plans | incorporating
facilities broad enough to service
the complete hospital. It is now
clear that Mr. Loffmark has
accepted this conception.

formal approach has still to be
made ‘to. the B.C. Hospital In-
surance Committee and the
Minister, ‘‘but he was assured me
that he ‘is completely ‘sym-
pathetic ‘to. the. proposals, and
that we will be able to proceed. ”
