In. 1894. the’ Sidney. School
District. was formed. By June,
1901; Sidney had a school with an
enrolment of 41 and a population
under six years of age to 18. Miss
A. Currie, sister of Sir Arthur
Currie, was the teacher. The
trustees at that time were S.
Roberts (Secretary), Louis
Herber and John Brethour.. In-
spector S.B. Netherby who
visited the school on. August 15,
1900, reported ‘‘order and
discipline excellent; pupils in-
dustrious, quiet and. respectful;
progress satisfactory."*'

By this time the Municipality of
North Saanich, including Sidney
and the North Saanich area had
been formed. That year also. saw
Sidney listed as an ‘examination

enrolment ran as high as almost
130 pupils. organized in four

today’s enrolment at North
Saanich Jr. Secondary. of 378!)-A
