There seems to be a trend in
recent years toward writing
“open letters’? to men in public
positions, either to encourage or
criticize-the work, or the ideas
they are promoting. Bruce
Hutchison's ‘‘Open Letter to
Prime Minister Trudeau’”’, is one
such. It is found in the July issue
of Macleans Magazine and is, in
my opinion. not only a challenge
to. Mr. Trudeau, but. to every
citizen in the country.

If [had the art and readership I
should like to. write an ‘‘open
Ietter’ ‘to Mr. John | Tisdale,
M.L.A. Mr. Tisdale is reported to
be asking for a moratorium: on

strikes. I.am not clear in my _

mind whether he is thinking in
terms of the continent, the nation,
or just: British Columbia. but I
suppose that it is this. province
that he has in mind.

First of all it should be stated
here, the idea has much of merit
in it. It will have the endorsement
of a great number of the citizenry
who are, by and large, fed up to
the teeth with strikes and more
strikes. .This..method of. .em-
barrassing the “Government, of
forcing some issue, or of airing a
grievance is a worn out, over-
