full standing room in. the main
cabin. There is a completely
separate cabin forward, enclosed
head and washbasin, and two full
length hanging closets, one for
wet clothing. The main cabin has
full galley facilities, chart table,
dinette converting to a double
berth and a separate quarter
berth projecting aft beside the
cockpit.

All combine to provide com-
fortable, if somewhat small
accomodation. for a long ocean
passage. There is a 20. gallon
fresh water tank j in the keel and

“fuel for the diesel auxiliary is

carried in a 10 gallon tank under
the cockpit seat. Both these tank
capacities. could’ be easily in-
creased if necessary.

The cockpit. is small, as
befitting any ocean going vessel,
and has teak gratings both in the
well. and on the side deck seats
which are protected by a low teak
combing. A bilge pump, fitted to
the after end of the cockpit,
discharges. directly outboard
from the lowest part of the keel
while the cockpit well is drained
by gravity through crossed pipes
to opposite sides of the hull. One
cockpit seat only opens to a sail
locker the other seat covering the
quarter berth and aft-of the
mizzen mast is a very large
lazarette locker.

Under sail the Nantucket
Clipper performed well clocking
up to five knots in a light ten knot
breeze.
sensitive to the tiller but could be
balanced on course readily. with
the .mizzen sail. set. as an air
rudder.

On the wind. she pointed to
better than 45 degrees and was
remarkably steady in the short
tidal chop that. is nearly always
present off Trial Island. Although
weather at the time did not put
her to the test she appeared to be
a reasonably stiff boat and would
probably be quite dry.

Brentwood Berry Tops had a
Saanich policeman from the drug
squad give a very informative
talk on drugs.

On Monday October 4 they held
a pariy to honour three. Keep Off
Pounds Sensibly members, Mrs.
Vera Gibson, Mrs. Linda Lien
and. Mrs. Elsie. Fraser. On
Monday, October 25, at eight p.m.
they are having a bazaar at their
meeting: place, the Brentwood
United. Church Halli. Everyone
welcome.

Peninsula Pair

Guests (from Courtenay,
Vancouver,. Lloydminster and
New Westminster travelled here
for the wedding in Holy. Trinity
Church on Sept. 15. of: two
Peninsula. young people.

Rev. Robert Sansom. officiated
at the ceremony for Georgina
Lilly Foley, daughter of Mrs.
Mary Foley, 2296 Henry Ave. and
Lloyd Evan, Les Williams, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Moelwyn Williams,
845 Birch Road.

The bride, who was attended by
Kerry Kennedy as maid of honor
and Carol Williams, bridesmaid,
chose an empire style gown with
brocade lace bodice. skirted in
white velvet. Pastel flowered
lace trimmed the neckline and
small train and the bride’s short
veil cascaded from a pear]: and
rhinestone’ chaplet. The. bridal
bouquet: was a-rose-ornamented
Bible.

Attendants wore simple gowns
of mauve polyester lace pat-
terned with white daisies and
carried harmonizing daisy
bouquets:

Ushers were Greg Doran,
Stephen Williams and. Fred
Polson. of Deep Cove and° Ard-
more.

Mrs. Edith Wilkins of Reston,
‘Manitoba, is spending a few
weeks visiting her three sisters in
this area, Mrs. Percy Hamilton
and Mrs. Myrtle Siemer of 1741
Haldon Road, and Mrs. A. L.
Shiner of 830 Benvenuto Avenue.

Two very young ladies that live
on. Marchant Road started
Playschool October: 4. Candice
Anfield and Susie Gili can be
seen, taking off with luneh-
buckets for schoo! three mor-
nings a week. Mrs. K. Thomson
has started the playschool again
