After twelve years of service to

Susies. are holding their. last
bazaar this Saturday.
Over the years the Susies have
donated upwards of $15,000 to the
maintenance and improvement
of Sanscha Hall. The money has
come mainly through the highly
successful annual bazaar and
projects such as sponsoring the
Rae Burns dance recitals, selling
“‘Joe’s Notebooks’, running the
summer playground for two
years, and renting of cushions
originally made by the Susies.
The first bazaar was held in
1960 by a group of women to raise
enough money to buy tiles to put
down for the New. Year's Eve
dance at Sanscha. From this
nucleus of women the Sanscha
Susies were formed under the
leadership of Mrs.. Phyllis Levar,
Over the years there have been
approximately 14 members and
from 1965 Mrs. Owen Thomas has
been president. Present mem-
bership includes: Mrs. A.
Spooner, treasurer; Mrs. Marg
Kadwell,. secretary; Mrs. Nel
Bolster, Mrs. Nancy Cook, Mrs.
J; Cox; Mrs. Irene Clark, Mrs.
Dorothy Beers, Mrs. V. Elvedahl,
Mrs. -.W. Gardner, Mrs.” Ella
Harrison, Mrs. Vivian Howard,
Mrs. Lil Hunt, Mrs. Jean Idiens,

Susies went to pay the interest on
the Sanscha bonds. :
“Sanscha was so hard up,”
commented Mrs. Thomas, ‘that
they didn’t even have the $300
interest on the: bonds.”’
From that time onthe Sanscha
_Susies have never looked back,
contributing every cent they have .
raised to Sanscha projects. Over.
the years they have paid to have
the hall stuccoed and. painted,
bought a furnace, with $600 help
‘from the Rotary Club paid for the
black topping of the parking lot
on the east side, bought a P.A.
“system, purchased lumber. and -
metal legs for 50 large tables and
material for. an outdoor stage.
They also bought material and:
“made all. the’ ‘curtains for the
