A gift of land by the Town of Sidney to senior citizens for a much- needed Peninsula activities centre was announced at the municipal Elderly Citizens and Pioneers tea last Sunday at Sanscha. W.E. Briggs of the Old Age Pensioners Organization and trustee of a building fund established by Volunteer Corps of Silver Threads, said: “This-is.a good start!” Mr. Briggs suggested that trees should be planted’on the land im- mediately and a notice posted to indicate the site of the future Activity Centre. Mayor Stanley Dear announced the dedication of the 1.3 acres on Resthaven Drive to a crowd of about 200 attending the tea. The. O.A.P.0. and Silver Threads organization in this area recently joined in committee to solve the problem of. a headquarters lack.
