Burnside West overlooking the
Trans-Canada Highway the $10
million Federal. Forest Research
Laboratory is staffed by 60
Scientists and 110technicians and’
administrators. The pavroll is
$1'2 million annually.

Addressing Sidney Rotarians
on Wednesday evening, forestry
information officer Tegid Jones
explained the reasons for its
foundation and the long-term
results it is hoped to achieve,

Celebrating their. Golden
Wedding on Wednesday Dec. 2nd,
are Mr. and Mrs..A.C. Ramsay of
1299 Mt. Newton Cross Road.

Mr. and Mrs. Ramsay were
married in 1920, at the home of
the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. :
A.S. Gordon of Cardale,
Manitoba, and spent the first 44
years of their married life in Car-
dale before moving to Central
Saanich six years ago. They have
eight children, 24 grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren.

Part of their golden wedding
celebration was held at Cardale
in the summer when they could
get together with their relatives
and old friends. At. that time
telegrams of congratulation were
received. from: Prime Minister
Pierre Trudeau, John. Diefen-
baker, Premier Shire of
Manitoba, Lieut. Governor J.R:
Nicholson of British Columbia,
and. Premier W.A.C. Bennett.
Congratulations were since
received from Mayor A.M.
Galbraith and the Council of
Central Saanich.

Trees for Christmas

The origin of the Christmas

when it became the custom in
