“Sidney SI %, as 73 ii Sidney teenage recording artist Diane Pancel will sing at a special family concert Saturday in the Portuguese Community Hall, 4635 Elk Lake Road. Pancel, 15, released her first * to follow a family tradition by THE BIBLE THE BOOK FOR TODAY There is one person who contin- ues to come into focus in the Old Testament—Jesus Christ. It) is amazing how many times, for example Gen. 3:15—the seed of the woman. That is rather unusual, and yet understanda- ble if one is familiar with Isaiah 7:14 “Behold, a virgin will con- ceive and bear a son”. Yes a son—not a daughter—. Then a quick look at Luke 1:27 - a virgin espoused to a man—of the house of David”. The virgins name was Mary (verse 30) Fear not Mary, for thou hast found favour with God, thou shalt bring forth a Son—the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David—of his kingdom there shall be no end”. These three scriptures combine to present the truth about Jesus, regarding the term “son of man”. In this same text in Luke 1-35, it is also stated by the angel,| because of the power of God that should overshadow her, the holy thing that should be born of her would be called “the son of God”. This could never be applied to any other than Jesus our Lord. In following the refer- ence to the “seed of the woman” and the virgin birth, we find that the word “seed” comes up again in Gen. 22:18 “In thy seed (Abraham) all the families of the earth shall be blessed”. This is an amazing covenant that could only point forward to the pur- pose of Jesus. He was the anointed of God from the lin- eage of Abraham, to bring a blessing to all nations. Isaiah 9:6 contributes an outstanding revalation “Unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder——of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon thethrone of David”. It is wonderful how the Bible is so consistant. 2 Samuel 7 verse 12, God speaking to David says, “| will set up thy seed after thee— | will establilsh his kingdom—I will be his father and he shall be my son. These verses again are forceful in presenting the impor- tance of the covenant made to Abraham and to David, embrac- ing Jesus, and making him the Son of God. Truly, the son of God, through whom all families of the earth can and will be blessed. For Abraham, and us, this covenant would be mean- _ingless if he was not insured a resurrection from the dead. The subject: “THE RESURREGC- TION IS A GUARANTEE: will be a Bible subject discussed on: Jan. 28, at 7 p.m. at the Moose’ Hall 7925 E. Saanich Rd. The Christadelphians give you a warm welcome.
