It’s a travesty.” In addressing the Saanich Peninsula Chamber of Commerce Thursday, provincial Liberal Party leader Gordon Wilson used these words in slamming the controver- sial Meech Lake Accord. Wilson was the guest speaker at the Chamber’s general meeting in Saanichton. Wilson said Premier Bill Vander Zalm and other Western provincial leaders have ignored the will of their electorate on the Meech Lake Accord issue. “They've dealt away the rights of Candians, particularly Westem Canadians, like a bunch of guys in an all-night poker game,” he said. The Accord affects all Canadi- ans and not just Quebecers because it is a “fundamental abridgement”’ of everyone’s con- Stitional rights and freedoms, he said. “Tt will not make us equal from coast to coast.
