Community TheReview Wednesday, July 11,1990 — B8 Two air cadets presented with good service medals Two Sidney air cadets were honored with major air cadet awards during the 676 Kittyhawk Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squad- ron’s annual inspection, June 16. The Royal Canadian Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence was presented to Cadet Warrant Officer Second Class Paul Minkley for his efforts in enhancing the aims of the cadet organization. Cadet Warrant Officer First Class Wade Cook was awarded the Lord Strathcona Medal for his outstanding performance in physi- cal and military training. About 300 people turned out for the inspection and everyone was very impressed with the displays of drills, First Aid, and with the band, spokesman Sandra Full- brook said. Folkfest '90 Victoria’s annual Folkfest, a celebration of Canada’s ethnic mosaic, was once again marked by the conspicuous absence of the English and the French. Both groups appear to be under the impression that ethnic means everybody but them, a somewhat patemalistic attitude. The root of ethnic is ethnos, the Greek word for nation, and methinks that would include the two founding nations.
