We will continue to delay parks construction on the east side going south until such time as the third commercial building is in place.” New municipal . engineer in North Saanich North Saanich’s new municipal engineer, Jack Parry, moved in Monday, filling the position vacated by Igor Zahynacz. Parry worked as Deputy Direc- tor of Engineering Services in both Kelowna and Delta. Before com- ing to North Saanich, he worked with a consulting engineering firm in Prince George for two years. He obtained an engineering deg- ree from the University of Queens- land in Australia and came to nada i in 1969. When he first arrived in Canada, he worked in Victoria for three years. Zahynacz left North Saanich July 13 to take over as municipal engineer in Port Coquitlam. Police suspect suicide in drowning deaih off Beacon Sidney RCMP believe a man who drowned off the end of the Beacon Avenue wharf Saturday moring took his own life. Police found a 1988 Toyota Ter- cel stationwagon, with keys in the ignition, abandoned at the end of Beacon Avenue, on the wharf east of the Satellite Fish Company, about 2:40 a.m. Saturday, Sidney RCMP Sgt. Andy Rosequist said. Police suspected something hap- pened to the vehicle’s owner and waited until morning before bring- ing in police divers. The body of Philip Lao Chiang, 34 of Market Street in Victoria, was found on the ocean floor below the wharf about 1:15 p.m. Saturday: Police ruled out foul play and an autopsy report states the cause of death as drowning, probably some- time around 2 a.m. Saturday.
