Topping the scales at 1,133 lbs., Andrew Preto’s beast was sold to Best Way Market for $1.30 per pound. The cheque total was almost $1,500. Other club members did equally well. Jeff Dahl’s 1,107-lbs. animal was sold for $1.30 per pound as well, but he’ll probably be eating some of it himself. The top bidder was none other than Sidney Veter- inarian Services, a business oper- ated by his parents. Jessica Adams’ animal was bought by Thrifty Foods, one of five steers bought by Thrifty Foods. Prices ranged downward from $1.30 per pound but didn’t drop below $1.20. Other buyers from the Peninsula were Island View Freezer Meats, G.W.G. Rentals, Peninsula Co-op and DWK Mechanical. In total, there were 20 local 4-Hers to show and sell animals.
