Chocolate Chips is the nick- name given to Tribal Warrior, a brown-flecked registered appa- loosa, by the children who ride the horse at Bear Creek Equestrian Centre in Central Saanich. With the help of imstructor Ali- sion Robb of the Victoria Riding _ for the Disabled Association, _ Jackie mounts up once a week and learns how to guide the horse. She describes Chips as being spotted, soft and “up in the air.” Jackie’s mother, Sheila Reyn- olds of Central Saanich, notes the riding program has given Jackie more self-confidence over the past two years plus a social activity in which she can excel. The 11-year-old Keating Ele- mentary school student was bom with Down’s Syndrome. In addition to a mental disability and delayed speech, Jackie also had problems with balance — which has improved through the _ riding lessons, Reynolds said. “It’s given her confidence that she’s not afraid of an animal that big,” Reynolds added. Proceeds from the show will be donated to the Victoria Riding for #je Disabled Association. The _show, which will be taped for later Droadcast on CBC Radio, starts in the downtown Victoria theatre at 8 p.m. Air Farce veterans Roger Abbott, Don Ferguson, Luba Goy and John Morgan will bring their usual cast of characters: Luba as Mila, John as Amy de la Pompa, e Roger as Mairtre d’Armand and Don as the Prime Minister: to Victoria in a series of hilarious and satiric skits. Tickets are available at the McPherson Box Office. Gala tick- ets, which include a reception following the show, are also availa- ble. 5.
