Peninsula residents get UVic awards

Many Saanich Peninsula resi-
dents were among University of
Victoria students to receive scho-
larships and other awards at the
annual Awards Recognition Cere-
mony. About 1,100 scholarships
and awards were presented at the
recent University Centre cere-
mony,

Population growth

Immigration has played an

outside of Canada has stood at 16
per cent of the total population
through the years since the Second
World War, Statistics Canada fig-
ures show.

Over the last decade, immigra-
tion has accounted for an average
of 22 per cent of population
growth.
