‘News Keating neighborhood won't have bus po A Number Proposed changes to bus service in the Keating Ridge area and in a Brentwood Bay neighborhood will not be implemented, a B.C. Transit spokesman said Friday. Recommendations to a transit commission meeting scheduled for yesterday is that “itll be basically the status quo,” said Ron Drolet, divisional manager of planning and contract services. “We're suggesting to the com- mission that the proposal is not to go at this time.” B.C. Transit proposed to move its Number 75 bus off Central Saanich Road and onto Rodolph Road and Beuna Vista Road, to pick up possible users from the area east of Rodolph Road but west of the Pat Bay Highway, he said. Residents in the area signed hundreds of names to a petition opposing the change and sent in to Central Saanich council and B.C Transit. Leaving the service as is breaks Transit’s normal walk limits, Dro- let said. As well, a suggestion to move bus service off Wallace Drive in Brentwood, to go down Sluggett and return on Marchant, was scrapped. B.C. Transit will bring a recommendation to Central Saa- nich council “and I think they would support not operating on™ Sluggett and continue operating on Wallace,” Drolet said. The Number 75 will serve a new middle school to be constructed on Wallace Drive.
