Robin Blackwell received the junior record book award while Kathje Wilson picked up the senior record book award. The junior showmanship trophy went to Jennifer Rothwell, the intermediate showmanship trophy to Doug Wilson and the senior showmanship trophy to Debbie Samaroo. Aarod Dowd received the award for the top female cow and the trophy as the member showing the most improvement. The Best Boy award was given to Doug Wilson and the Best Girl award to Theresa Harms. Kathie Wilson received the pres- ident’s trophy. Doug Wilson received the award for outstanding contribution to the club and was also recognized for having the best 4-H Hereford pro- ject. . FILLING PLATES at their annual award banquet are members of the Vancouver Island Select 4-H Beef Club. The potluck supper was held at the Experimental Farm in North Saanich. Sarah Swift received the O'Reilly Memorial. First year plaques were pre- sented to Jennifer Rothwell, Robin Blackwell, Sarah Swift and Ben Johnson. Ben Johnson also received the Gain of Weight award for his steer, J.B., which gained 440 pounds from February to August. Brentwood Rofary marks decade of service Ten years of service — bush clearing, building and fund-raising bingo — were celebrated last month by the Brentwood Bay Rot- ary Club. Chartered on Oct. 3, 1981, the club’s major projects over the past 10 years have included construc- tion of a BMX track at Centennial Park in Central Saanich, the Penin- sula Rifle Club range, rejuvenation of the Central Saanich Pool, a canoe launch, beach access and walkway in Verdier Park, Bren- twood and a public walkway along Ravine Way in Brentwood. Members have provided furni- ture for the Central Saanich Boys and Girls Club, for St. Andrew’s Abbeyfield House in Sidney, for a room at Mt. Newton Centre and provided steps and a ramp at Brentwood Bay Chapel. THE HIGHLIGHT of Brentwood Rotary’s Charter night 10 years ago was the presentation of the new club's charter by district governor Bob Mallon (left) to president George _Karbatoff. A survey showed interest in forming the new club, which was sponsored by Sidney. Rotary.
