The Peninsula Eagles Novice D
hockey team improved their record
to 4-5-2 with a 6-1 victory over
Victoria-Esquimalt Sunday after-
noon at the Esquimalt arena.

that enables kids to play intercity
while still being somewhat com-
petitive, spokesman Wayne Hall
said Monday.

“This is not a rep team, but a
chance for stronger skilled players
to compete at a more challenging

level of play,” Hall said.

A strong team effort combined
with solid goaltending from Sean
French proved to be the keys to
victory.

Kevin Rapanos had a hot shoot-
ing hand, scoring a pair of goals,
and Brennan Gummer had a
strong game as he added a goal
and assist to the winning effort,
Hall said.

cause with two assists during the
game and Laurie Melis, Ben King
and J.J. Bimie also came up with
assists.

But, with just minutes remain-
ing, Vic-Esq forward Nick Ver-
bruggen spoiled the Eagles shutout
bid when he blasted a shot over
Ferch’s night shoulder, Hall said.

On Saturday, the Eagles hosted
the Seattle Snowkings in a game at
Panorama Leisure Centre.

The teams played a tight game
that ended in a 3-3 draw.

Melis, Gummer and Guiguet
picked up the goals and Gill added
two assists in the game.

tion games were canceled due to
rain and high winds last week.

Cable shocked Juan de Fuca in a
7-2 game.

In Division 3C, Peninsula Har-
vey’s Sporting Goods dropped a
3-1 decision against Sooke.

In Division 8, Peninsula Theo’s
crushed Pharmasave in a 8-4
match and by default, Peninsula
Co-Op lost to Prospect Lake Mr.
Grocer 2-0.

Also in Div. 8, Peninsula Tan-
ner’s Tornadoes beat Peninsula
Dairy Queen 2-0.

In Division 9, the Harry Fowler

our first three games, we came on
very well in the latter stages of
league play to finish third in our
division,’ Burgess said.
