T nReview Wednesday, December 9, 1992 = A14| Peninsula flute player is featured in concert series § = The Civic Orchestra of Victoria and soloist Mary Jill McCulloch will perform Dec. 18 in the second concert of the Sidney Concert Series. The concert begins at 8 p.m. in Parkland Secondary school’s multi-purpose room. On the pro- gram are works by Dmitri Shosta- kovich, Johan Halvorsen, Carl Reinecke, Armo Armas Jarnefelt and Jules Massenet. Mc€ulloch, principal flutist with the orchestra, will be featured in Reinecke’s Flute Concerto in D. Now a Peninsula resident, she eamed her B.A. and teaching cre- dentials from California State [4 University before receiving her masters degree in flute perform- ance from Stanford University. She has been with the civic orchestra for three years. The orchestra was inaugurated in 1983 by Charles Barber and is now conducted by Robert Cooper. Tickets to the concert are $7, available at Tanners Bookstore and Big T Music in Sidney and at the Thought Shop in Brentwood. The concert is sponsored by the Sidney and North Saanich Communny Arts Council. a.
