News Terrorized by dirt bikers and other users of off-road vehicles, a group of residents near the Fama Holdings Ltd.-owned Tod Inlet property have appealed to Central Saanich council for help. The residents say the Tod Inlet property is being damaged as youths race bikes and off-road vehicles through the bush. Deep ruts are being gouged into the ground and the entire site is chumed-up mud dotted with beer cans, one resident told Central Saanich council. Council members were also told a a John Bruce that a resident who attempted to take down the license plate num- bers of those driving on to the property was verbally and physi- cally threatened by six youths. One resident said people living in the area fear putting their name to complaints because of such harassment. The narrow walking trails through the natural shrubbery on the site have been destroyed by the all-terrain vehicles and motorcy- cles, another neighbor reported. After describing the devastation, one man suggested those responsi- ble should be charged. Central Saanich council received the residents’ submission and agreed to refer the issue to the next police board meeting. They also directed staff to take whatever action is necessary and approved by the property owner to elimmate motor vehicle access to Fama Holdings’ property.
