MEMORANDUM eee ree TO: Mayor and Council February 29th, 1980, FROM: Street Naming Committee 0 ee ere kee OF Oore mart ce ee ewe ee 9 ne ma me oe pre mee oe we po two street names are required in new subdivision within the City the first is the major street created by the Pennington Subdivision off Pitt River Road. It has been suggested by the developer that this be calied Campbeil Avenue after the past Mayor Jack M. Campbell. This is an appropriate name as there are many Scottish names in this sub- division for example McDonald Place, Morrison etc. Mr. Campbell has been contacted and ‘as not objection to his name being used. The second street is the short connector street that joins Anderson Way to the east end of Warwick Avenue in a srbdivision recently completed by Ben Arnold. It is suggested that this be named Valens Street after E.A. Valens who was an alderman of the City Council during 1937-38, We have been unable to contact any immediate relatives of Mr. Valens but the Committee hopes that there would be no objection to the use of this name, The Committee would recommend that these streets be named as set out above.
