Children’s illustrator here WILDLIFE ARTIST Andrew Kiss is in town this weekend to promote a uew chil- dren’s book which he’s illustrated. Called A Mountain Alphabet by Margrite Ruurs, each letter is accompanied by a gorgeaus scene from western Canada. The letter ‘A’? shows autumn colours in the mountains, and is from a Scene near golden. For the letter ‘‘K’’, Kiss has painted kayakers, watching Kokanee salmon spawning. , “T”? depicts a train taking tours through the tunnels. . As well as promoting his new book, Kiss will also be showing some of his limited edition prints and oil paintings. .- Kiss loves the outdoors, and often cap- tures ‘his subjects on film. He then vses those photographs as a springboard for his imagination, combining the elements of several photos in bis mind. Kiss gained recognition after moving to Willians Lake in 1987. With the rugged mountains and lakes of the Cariboo region as inspiralion, his art flourished. — He’s won many awards for his arl, and was named Ducks Unlimited’s Artist of the Year for B.C. and Canada, He’s travelled throughout the world, exhi- biting his works atid photographing scencs for new material. - Kiss will be in Terrace this Friday, Satur- day and Sunday at the Coast Inn of th West ‘Banquet Room.
