THE CORPORATION OF THE CiTY OF PORT COQUITLAM ” COUNCIL REPORT TO: Fred Peters, Acting City Administrator FROM: K. Janna Taylor, Parks & Recreation Director SUBJECT: Wilson Centre Study RECOMMENDATION : 1. That a consultant be hired to do a feasibility study of the Wilson Centre. The criteria for the study would be: a) Identify and draw up plans for the additional facili- ties required; _b) Identify the construction costs of these facilities. 2. That the cost of the study not exceed $10,000. 3. That the money for the study be taken from the Parks Reserve fund. BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: The Parks & Recreation Committee have met, on occasions, with the Wilson Centre Advisory Board in regard to expansion of the Wilson Centre. The Wilson Centre staff and the Wilson Centre Advisory Board agree that there is a definite need to expand the facilities. However, in order to determine the cost and the kind of expansion required, it will be necessary for the department to hire a consultant to identify the kinds of facilities required and the cost attached to these facilities. Attached are reports from both staff and the Advisory Board as to the problems that presently exist at the Centre. Represen= tatives from the Wilson Centre Advisory Board will be in attendance should Council members have any questions. a il cegeateeas 1 Bee K.Ajanna Taylor, i xks & Recreation Director. KIT/bh
