OPEN FORUM _ BEST WISHES : W.S.H. Victoria, B.C. writes: I ‘Still think that your little paper is one of the best that can be found, and I am enclosing check for the due amount to you. Please Continue my personal sub- Scription. In about two weeks I _ 80 into hospital for surgery, but I am going to be very busy until that time, so I won’t have the time to distribute the PT where 1t would do the most good. However, I do not know just When I will be able to again do the job I have been doing, that is Setting the paper into the hands of new readers. _ (The PT staff hopes WSH will Soon be restored to health and back on the job for increased Circulation. Ed.) RUBBISH Eb. _ Evans, Vancouver, Writes: Someone handed me a leaflet the other night wanting Me to join the ‘‘World Socialist — Party of Canada.’’ Those -48reeing with its principles, it States, should apply to the Nearest local for application of Membership. I didn’t rush to the Nearest local since only a PO box Number was given, and secondly Would like some enlighten- ment of these ‘‘principles’’. For example the leaflet states that socialism would only be “troduced in Canada when a Majority of the people want it as €xpressed by ballot. But the leaflet also emphasizes that Socialism cannot be achieved in One country, but must be world- Wide. I’m a little perplexed. Does every country have to pass Out its ballots for socialism at € same time, and what ‘appens if only one country votes ; 4gainst socialism? Tn such eventuality I presume €very country inthe world would ‘ave to drop the idea, or at least Postpone it until a more @uspicious occasion. Then again it says that every country in the World has a capitalist system, ‘cluding the USSR and the — a Peoples Republic of China. This - leaflet defines capitalism as “‘a society based upon the owner- ship of the means of living (re land, industries, transportation, etc., by the capitalist class,” etc. Since this is their own defini- tion of capitalism, before becoming a member I must be convinced that a ‘‘capitalist class” in the USSR owns the land, the industries, trans- portation, including the etcetras. This leaflet also states that they (The World Socialist Party of Canada) will take no part in the struggle of the workers for reforms — although the leaflet authors admit that reforms are - in the workers’ interest. What collosal rubbish. PS. Hello Elgin. GENOCIDE H.J. Hansen, Victoria, B.C. : writes: It has been brought to light in an article in the Victoria Daily Times of October 31, re “Alberta’s sterilization like Germany ’’. Dr. James Goodwin, a former research fellow of the Nuffield Institution in Oxford, England, and now a leading Toronto Gynecologist, is attempting to have this Alberta law revoked. He claims that the board in Alberta which gives the go-ahead for every operation of this nature has no members with any genetic experience, and in fact two out of four places on the board are held by laymen. I have long charged genocide in this province. They can operate on a person, but tell him nothing . . . having the protec- tion of all the phoney religious and political hacks. This has been my experience with many in the so-called medical profession. It would be worth while for all - progressive people to send letters of support to Dr. James Goodwin for his humane qualities and for his fight to expose this evil. If the people do not protest, someday we might end up the victims of thése Nazi butchers. Part of the 400 who marched in Winnipeg against the Vietnam war on — Nov. 15.
