10 RESOSANTE Four Health Projects Start Up in British Columbia Following the call for tenders by Société Santé en francais, three organizations received funding to include French language health programming in their regular activities: e La Boussole e The Fédération des parents francophones de la Colombie-Britannique e Provincial Language Services RésoSanté and the Centre of Integration for African Immigrants obtained funding for two years from the Public Health Agency of Canada. These funds will help to develop healthy life skills among immigrant families through the creation of community kitchen, food bank and physical activity projects. These four projects are in addition to the basic RésoSanté programming that already covers several topics related to health promotion, service organization and human resource development. Beneficial Partnerships RésoSanté and its partners (Société de développement économique de la Colombie-Britannique, Fédération des parents francophones de Colombie- Britannique, Inform’Elles Society and Educacentre College) participated in three very successful events this year: A rallying event on post-traumatic stress disorder (March 2011) The conference by Dr. Pascale Brillon was a great success: it was attended by 45 satisfied participants. The launch of the LEAP BC program (March 2011) LEAP BC was launched at Centres d‘appui a la famille et a V'enfance (CAFE) [Family and Childhood Support Centres] in March 2011. It offers early childhood training on diet, physical activity and language development. The training is aimed at parents and educators. The Vancouver Wellness Show (February 2011) Thanks to the support of the Société de développement économique de la C.-B. and RésoSanté, five groups of Francophone health professionals presented their services and non traditional medical services to the general public in Vancouver. The three day event covered all aspects of wellness and attracted more than 30,000 visitors. RésoSanté would like to thank its partners and Health Canada for their support.
