PHOME 939-9291 SCHOOL DISTRICT No. 43 (COQUITLAM) BS8Q POIRIER SY. COQUITLAM, B. C. CanF0a, ee COUN Mareh 29, 1973 APR ~ 9 1973 Me. R.A. Freeman, City Clerk Corporation of the City of Port Cequitlan 2272 McAllister Avenue Port Coguitiamn, B. C. Dear Mr. Freeman: Your ietter of March Sth regarding the opening of Hazel Trembath Elementary School was considered by the Board at its last meeting. It is the feeling of the Board that the residents in the area were aware that the Hazel Trembath Elementary School was being constructed and would be opened as soon as possible. Notice that the school would be opened on Friday, March 2nd was given to each parent by the Principal, Mrs. Neumeyer, under date of February 2lst. In cases where new schools are opened during the school year, this is considered by the Board to he a reasonable amount ef notice to give the parents. In the case of this particular achool there was some problem obtaining delivery of equipment because one of the major furniture suppliers had recently gone out of business and it was not possible for the Board to be certain of the delivery dates from new suppliers. Every effort was made by the Board to open this school as soon as possible because it was the Board's feeling that the pupils at the Kilmer Elementary school and the new Hazel Trembath Elementary School should benefit at the earliest possible time from a reduction in class size which is being imple- mented throughout the School. District. The Board of School Trustees thank the City for the attention given to speed zone Bigns on Paula Place and cther possible traffic hazards adjacent to the school. Yours truly, SCHOOL DISTRI¢T NO. 43 (COQUITE.AM) R.C. Smith — Secretary-Treasurer RCS: m3
