STARCK, Edltor and Publisher, Realization Needed In speaking to a friend this week, one of the old pioneers, he remarked upon the change in the past 50 years or more, how the people of today are restless, and do not in some respocts take easily to the restric- tions imposed on them by present conditions, In the early days, one had to do with what they had and make best of it. Wages were not high, what:could be got was correspondingly low. Everyone seemed to be happier and more neighbourly. We are living in a faster age today, the younger generation with their cars do not seem to see anything but sending them at their fastest clip and whooping her up, spending their money recklessly. ‘ War conditions are making us realize that we have got to do without a lot of things that we thought was absolutely necessary to our comfort. Those who are taking it as it comes, do not appear to be the worse for it. We here, who are outside the war zone, are: still very w'steful. We do not, as in England, save every serap of paper or tins. They are restricted in more ways than we are and yet they are in good health and spirits, they may nat get all they would like to eat, but enough, and they are doing the work besides. It is surprising, when we really have ta, how much we can do without. If we fully realize and voluntarily restrict ourselves, it will go a long way to bringing the war so much closer to the end. We are not out of the woods yet, but things are unproving. That can apply equally as well to the war as to our office troubles, Support your local merchants urti back the clock, but cenit hold back Mother Nature, When fan tuff’ gets under way it's a ‘round the clock” jo anil the nes ce needs all the help he can got Hold af) reducer That's why the fullest use farm knowing about.
