As well, it was decided to go ahead with the installation of a 10” drain tile along the lower end of Stelly’s for a distance of 285 feet, and at a cost of $500. Alderman Donald MacLaurin was opposed to the move because the tile laid is of it,’ he asked council, but did not receive a satisfactory -answer. “‘The only reason for doing it (installing the tile) is to widen the usable portion of the 4 | road,” he said, arguing that clay tile would not be sturdy enough for constant traffic.
