“Foremost among the points I’d like to make with regard
to Premier Bennett’s northeast coal tour de force a couple
of weeks. ago, is: that it. wasn’t a freebee. Not. for .us
reporters anyway. And not for the business types either.
‘I’m. mentioning this because a lot of people seem to be
under the impression that the B.C. taxpayers footed the

“bill for the whole affair. Not so.

We paid for all transportation by plane, bus and train,
and we paid for our own hotel accommodation. :

Most of the meals were admittedly free, but since they
included Don Phillips’ interminable speeches, they were no

- bargain, believe me.
