Mr. Vaughan, when he retires at the end. of this year, will ter- minate a career entirely ‘devoted to transportation. ‘He will: have completed -51 years of ° service, having. been: successively. with - -Canadian Pacific, the Grand Trunk Railway, the Canadian Northern Railway and the Canadian. Na- tional Railways. ° His first official appointment was in 1915 as assistant to the vice-president and general man- ager of the Canadian Northern Railway. He became vice-presi- dent in charge of purchases and stores and steamships of the Cana- dian National in 1920.
