Since the Capital Regional
District installed overhead wires
at the Hartland Road dump to
deter seagulls from feeding on
the garbage, the number of
birds has dropped significantly,
said John Craveiro, solid waste
supervisor. ,

The wire erection was com-
pleted last. .month and ‘since
then, three birds were destroyed
after becoming entwined in the
wires:

A vehicle parked on Wallace
road was struck by a light blue
late-model Oldsmobile, Aug.
16. The driver of the
Oldsmobile left the scene of the
accident.

The vehicle owned by Carol
Fyfe-Wilson sustained $600
damage. The accident is under
investigation, a Central Saanich
police spokesman said.
