At the same time Mr. Kennedy
announced a ten per cent increase
in the December quota of draught
beer for hotels, licensed premises
and veterans’ clubs. <A cheek of
breweries revealed production was
sufficient to make such an_in-
crease.

He said also that the departure
of 11,000 home defence troops
from British Columbia might. re-
lease close to 1,000,000 gallons
of beer a year for civilian use.
Canteen quotas of a gallon per
man per month cannot be taken
out of the province and Mr. Ken-
nedy said if the canteens closed
the beer would be diverted to
civilian consumers.

The amount. available, he said,
would not be large compared to
total consumption of 700,000
British Columbia. residents, and
the Liquor Board was not count-

ing on it in the plans for next
