When it’s your.turn to throw a party. do you:
-charge cach guest 25 cents to get in and give them.a draw ticket for
_ acrumby door prize?
-serve food in pots.and pans leaving your silver and dishes in the
cupboard?
-use food colouring to make weird ice cubes?
-make a table centrepiece from wilted flowers, use odd-length
candles and offer a variety of used paper napkins?
-serve Wine in kitchen glasses taped with each guest’s name to keep
them from dirtying more than one?
If not, maybe it’s worth a try. the worst that can happen is your
guests. will leave early and you'll get a full night’s sleep. .
Throwing a tacky, or no taste, party is just one of the nearly 50
party ideas included in Just For The Fun Of It, a delightful book full.

~.. Over ayear ago the two former cctool teachers sorted through a full
drawer of papers-accumulted. over five-years by Paton ‘‘just in case,”’
picked out the best ideas and, just before last Christmas had their 88-
page,. glossy, soft cover book in'a few Greater Victoria bookstores.
Response was quick, and in February a second '1,000-copy printing
was needed.

Now the authors are readying a third printing and will take copies to
bookstores on Vancouer Island and the mainland.

They market their product themselves because ‘‘book distributors
want 60 per cent-and at that rate we’d lose 40 cents a copy,’’ Herbert
said. ‘Besides we like taking it around.-Every store’s.a challenge.”’

After. convincing ‘a book seller to stock a few copies, the job’s not
done.* The authors: check back to make’ sure. their books’ getting
proper. shelf presentation. ‘‘One:store. had copies in their gardening
section for heaven’s sake,’’ Herbert said. ‘‘I moved them.’’

Vancuiver island. After all, they say, who would say no to party ideas

CLOSURE OF WEILER AVENUE OFF-
RAMP

The public is advised that the Ministry of Transportation and Highways will

effect closure of the southbound offramp on Highway #17 at Weiler Avenue.

This closure will enhance the operational characteristics of the Patiicta Bay
- Highway by offering a higher level of service for the long distance trips

Persons wishing to proceed to the Airport and areas to the west should leave
the highway at Beacon Avenue, and use the new Beacon Avenue to Ocean
Avenue connection now open to the public.

This closure will take effect October 1.1984.
