Trinity and St. Andrew’s eve-
ning branch of the W.A. realized
$80.

Held at the corner of Chalet
and Birch Roads, Deep Cove, the
sale. was. well attended. and the
stocks of home cooking; sewing,
fruits and vegetables rapidly were
sold out,

The -affair was convened by
Miss E. Gwynne and members of
the branch.

GALIANO ISLAND

Mrs. A. Shopland spent several
days of last week in Vancouver,
returning home on Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Denroche
are at present in Vancouver the
guests of the latter’s parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Brawn.

Mr. Ed. Willson is visiting his
father and = mother-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. R. Bruce, and is con-
valescing from his recent serious
illness.

Mrs. Odberge, of Mayne Tsland,
was recently visiting her son-in-
law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
J.. O'Connell.

The marriage of Dorothy Ma-
halah, only daughter of Mrs.
Thomas Patience and the late T.
Patience, Galiano Island, took
place on June 30, at St. Helen’s
church, Vancouver. The groom,
Herbert Bruce Gladman, is the
son of Mrs. Albert Gladman, of
Toronto.

Mayne Island.--A large group
of friends gathered at the Hall,
to bid farewell to Mrs. Molly Mc-
Eachan and Duggie, who leave
this week for Vancouver, on their
way to their home in Scotland
after five years spent on the
island. A handsome chenille bed-
spread was presented to the de-
parting guest. After an evening
of whist dancing was enjoyed.

Hold Quiz on Work

Salt Spring Island.—The regu-
lar monthly meeting of the Salt
Spring branch of the Women’s
Auxiliary was held recently in
the parish room, Ganges, with the
president, Mrs. Holmes, in the

chair, Ven. G. H. Holmes taking

the. devotional — period. The
financial statement showed a_bal-
ance of $53.94.

Mrs. G. W. Taylor spoke on
the work of the Junior W.A. and
gave a report of the recent picnic
held for the children at the home
and Mrs. J. H. Kingdom,
St. Marys Lake. It was decided
to pay. the taxes due on the
vicarage and, also, that no meet-
ing be held until September. Final
plans were made for the annual
church fete and sale of work to
be held at Harbour House. Games
were arranged, Col. A. B. Snow
appointed in charge of tennis.

Mrs. Holmes conducted a quiz
contest on the work of the W.A.
and tea was served by Mrs. H.
Carter and Mrs, F. Stacey.
