We publish herewith a ceniribution on the Water Question by
Mr. J. B. Tighe, Deep Cove, and believe that a new angle has bee
suggested in this article as te a possible way of getting: water, at
least in some parts, for irrigation purposes. Fer instance, we know
of a stream of water flowings down Mount Newton te the West Read
at present apparently doing Hite, if any, good during the
dry spell, whereas a reservoir on the side of the mountain could be
constructed to hold sufficient water to supply many farnis in the
Vicinity and bring unoccupied Jand into use. Here is.a chance ‘for
some enter prising go-getier to start something that would be a last-
ing benefit to the whole district. There are many other streams ou
the Peninsula that could be wade similar use of. We thank Mr. Tighe
