The Honorable Leslie’ H. Eyres,

minister .of. trade and industry,
announced: today that definite’

plans are under way for extend-
ing the facilities of the Depart-
ment of Trade and Industry for
increased trade with the United
Kingdom.

On industrial and trade repre-
sentative will be appointed to
London. This representative will
be attached to and form part of
the executive staff of the Agent-
General, W. A. McAdam, C.M.G.
He will report directly to the
office of Trade Commissioner of
the Department of Trade and
Industry in Victoria.

R. S. O’Meara, trade commis-
sioner, made a survey of the situ-
ation in the United Kingdom re-
cently, his report emphasized the
need of some effective liaison in
trade and industrial development
matters,

The representative’s work. will
be . specifically concerned “with
the interests of trade and indus-
try in the province and will be-
co-ordinated with the work of. the
Federal. Trade Commissioner
Service in London and _ througth-
out the United Kingdom. His
directive will also be related to
the work of the Dominion Agri-
cultural representatives in Lon-
don and the Specialist Trade
commissioners under timber or
