F.R.G.S., 85, of Sidney and Banff,
died at his home in Banff. on
Tuesday, March 20. .Mr. Wheeler,”

- who founded the: Alpine. Club of
. Canada,

was for many years resi-
dent in Sidney. A pioneer sur-
~veyor of International ‘reputation,
’ Mr. Wheeler surveyed the’ bound-
ary between Alberta and British
Columbia from 1913 to 1926. On
this. survey his naviy travelled the
watershed of ‘the Rocky Mountain
range.

In 1906 he founded the Alpine
Club of Canada and was the club’s
first president and a director for
20 years. Since 1926 he has been
honorary president of the organi-
