When Graham Scholes wrote his whimsical introduction to watercolor painting, he started with the basics. -_ By VALORIE LENNOX Review Staff Writer An introduction to tools, to paper characteristics and to paint fills the first few pages of the book, followed by information on composition and design. The whimsy in the book comes both from the North § arust’s Saanich s humorously encouraging tone and the arust-supplied stop-"em-in-their-tracks headings. Even the ule, Watercolors and How, illustrates both Scholes’ fecling about his art and his desire to share his skills with others. But the book is more than‘a beginner's text.
