ROBERTS PASSES ON SUDDENLY A pioneer resident and business- man of Sidney, Samuel Roberts, was laid to rest in Holy Trinity churchyard on Tuesday afternoon, The funeral was held from Hay- ward’s B.C. Funeral Chapel at 1:30 to Holy Trinity Chureh, Pa- tricia Bay, where services were conducted by the Rev. F. E. M. Tomalin. The hymns ‘Nearer, My God, To Thee” and ‘Abide With Me,” favorites of the de- ceased, were sung. Many beauti- ful floral tributes, a large congre- gation of relatives, friends, busi- ness associates and brother Ma- sons testified to the loss of a valued member of the community. The pallbearers were R. Brethour, J. G. Mitchell, A. D. Harvey, William Munro, R. A. Sansbury-.and John Bosher, Mr. Roberts passed away on Saturday, Sept. 25, in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Victoria, after a brief illness. He was 62 years of age and born in Sidney, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Roberts, pioneers of the Saanich Peninsula who came here in 1860. The deceased was widely known throughout the southern end of Vancouver Island and throughout the provirice.. He has been in the insurance and real estate business in Sidney for over 40 years. Dr. Black made his lecture so simple for all laymen to absorb and had drawn diagrams of the skin and its functions, which must have entailed much valuable time.
