There will be differ- ences especially about the degree of state control necessary to en- sure good farming but, all are agreed on maintaining the revival of agriculture brought about by the war. Guaranteed prices and assured markets for growers and produe- crs of the main products are to be continued by means of annual reviews and government orders fixing prices well in advance. The corresponding duty of the farm- ers and landowners must comply with the rules of good estate man- agement. Where the owner or oceupior is not complying with those responsibilities, the Minister of Agriculture jis enabled to place the land under supervision and serve directions for its proper use. Representations can be made to Country Agricultural Executive Committees introduced during the war, and which are now to be permanent. If, after 12 months’ supervigion no satisfactory im- provement is shown, the minis- ter may dispossess by compulsory purchase or termination of ten- ancy, with an appeal to the Agri- cultural Land Tribunal. The minister may farm the land so taken, or let it, or may keep it until the owner can satisfy him that good ~ alternative arrange- ments have been made. The Bill deals with-the general relationship between landlord and tenant in order to bring. the law into..line With “the new policy (stability plus
