“ “Catalyst” Lighter

A new type of “catalyst”
lighter developed by a United
Kingdom firm ig attracting much
attention. It is of average size
with a smaller tube attached to
the side. To work it one lifts
the top and rests a metal frame
from a small tube inside the
larger tube. In about two sec-
onds the alcohol vapour bursts
into flame. <A pellet of cobalt
composition is held by a fine wire
in the frame. Alcohol and air
oxidize on the surface of the
pellet so rapidly that the tem-
perature rises and the vapor is
ignited. The lighter in its pre-
sent form needs two hands as
with a box of matches but an

education. The provisions of the
act will be brought into force
by proclamation on a date to be
fixed by the Lieutenant-Governor
in Cotncil.

The Aci will create in place of
existing school districts:

1—Large municipal districts
Which may consist of one muni-
cipality alone, or two or more
municipalities, or a municipality
combined with contiguous rural
areas;

2—Large rural districts formed
by the combination of present
rural areas.

Financial clauses of the bill
provide that the basic grant pay-
able by the province to a school
district in a fiscal year in quar-
terly instalments shall be made
up of:

1—The minimum salaries of
teachers regularly ‘employed in
accordance with a schedule of
standard basic salaries prepared
and authorized by the Council of
Public Instruction.
2—Any allowance that - the

Earthworms Increase
Fertility Of Soil

There is a saying that even a
worm, will turn, and we might
hesitate to provoke to retaliation
